This process makes sure that your creativity focuses on that which is essential. You aren't just throwing spaghetti against a wall and hoping something sticks."I'd read a truckload of TOC material before ... and this course finally made it all click. I can now see how to start the problem-solving process from beginning to end, and I've actually done it during the course. I don't think it should be called critical thinking. This is really creative problem-solving but with focus. What I learned here lets me 1) see the issues clearly, 2) understand how to resolve them, and 3) turn that insight into a plan of action. This process makes sure that your creativity focuses on that which is essential. You aren't just throwing spaghetti against a wall and hoping something sticks. You figure out the logic of the problem. Then the logic of the solution. And end up with a plan of action that just makes sense. Thank you for creating this course and making it available to us all."

"I joined the course because l wanted to learn about new and effective ways to solve day to problem's not only in my work life but also in my home life. Life can be stressful, and it's very easy to allow stress to lead myself in making snap decisions that usually turn out to be the wrong ones. I want to be able to stop and take time to think more clearly to solve problems effectively in a calm and logical way. I have most definitely been able to apply the tools in both my work and personal life. I have been able to manage my stress effectively and been able to solve problems effectively with great outcomes. I am looking forward to enrolling into the next level of BBIT in the new year."I have been able to manage my stress effectively and been able to solve problems effectively with great outcomes...

It is refreshing to see a set of tools, rather than black magic, that we can use to energize our business and improve our communication."It is refreshing to see a set of tools, rather than black magic, that we can use to energize our business and improve our communication. Dealing with conflicts and decisions is something we all do every day – and having a way to better understand the true needs of people makes life 10x easier! I have already used the tools numerous times in my team and we can definitely see the positive results."

...everything clicked into place and all of a sudden I felt I had the ability to filter incoming information 10 times quicker."About three-quarters of the way through the course I suddenly had a “The Matrix” moment where everything clicked into place and all of a sudden I felt I had the ability to filter incoming information 10 times quicker than I could do beforehand."

Applying the tools, I learnt from this course helps me to break out of my rigid mindset."The new online course is very well organised and easy to follow. The flexibility of the course structure and tools allowed me to fit it into my everyday schedule. Prior to attaching this course, I primarily made decisions instantly, based on life experience and assumptions. After attending this course, I realised that how many different possibilities that I had missed. Applying the tools, I learnt from this course helps me to break out my rigid mindset. Furthermore, with these tools I can explain the logic of my decisions to other people. Our communications have been improved. It helps us quickly identify the issues and find the solutions. I recommend this course to my team members. The more people practicing on these tools, the more efficient we are in collaborations."

I think this course has laid a solid foundation for the next chapter in my career and will be recommending it to a number of my friends."My name is Lachie Pring and have spent the first part of my career based in Brisbane. During and then after my studies I worked for a tech Start-up called Maxlancer. As is the nature with small business environments, my involvement was fairly comprehensive, and I was able to be work across most parts of the business. It was here that I learned about DevOps and its conceptual precursor Theory of Constraints. In that role there was a lot of planning and strategizing as well as day-to-day organising and problem solving. The part of my work that I continue to most enjoy is problem solving and improving processes. I am now moving into a junior product management position with Publicis Sapient down in Melbourne, which will be my first introduction into the corporate industry. My dad, who had previously completed the BBIT course some years ago, thought this course would be an excellent primer for my problem solving and broader professional skillset. I went into the course with an open mind but was certainly surprised to get as much out of it as I did. It didn’t immediately grab me, as I thought the initial topics weren’t ground-breaking and it was more common sense. But by the fifth week, when you have the full picture, you are equipped with an elegant and versatile problem-solving framework. Now, whenever you’re at a crossroads, you can quickly choose a path, and create a practical and actionable plan to reach your desired outcome. I think this course has laid a solid foundation for the next chapter in my career and will be recommending it to a number of my friends. If the other BBIT courses have half as much value the Thinking Foundations course has given me, then I will certainly be eager to participate in those as well."

The Black Belt in Thinking Foundations course is extremely relevant to analyze day to day issues as a manager"The online delivery of the course works well, as you are active participating with exercises to build fluency, while other online programs may often trigger you to just sit back and watch video-material to complete a little test. The Black Belt in Thinking Foundations course is extremely relevant to analyze day to day issues as a manager, where you look at assumptions and injections for making win-win solution rather than making poor win-lose or loose-loose compromises. I’m going through the full Black Belt in Thinking program to help me better analyze the complex challenges with capacity management and throughput within IT second-line support."

I think and make decisions so much differently now. I always knew I was strong in logic, but what I had missed before is that creativity is the key to finding great solutions..."Hi Jarrod, Thanks so much for guiding me through this course. I had quite a few “aha!” moments and most unexpectedly for me – I think and make decisions so much differently now. I always knew I was strong in logic, but what I had missed before is that creativity is the key to finding great solutions. Sitting longer with a problem is a game changer. I probably had too much coffee on those assumption days. The most useful was watching you do it and see how your process works – it was quite a list! Making that big tree for the first time and the scrutiny process was a lengthy process too, but I was amazed how one injection can solve so many problems and something what was once a problem, if resolved, can become a solution for something else. One injection can create a domino effect for different parts in the tree... Sorting solutions by difficulty is some sort of delay-action thinking bomb! The one solution that I categorized as impossible is actually the one I started working on first and to my surprise, got a lot of support from the higher management. Nothing is impossible, I guess!"

Most courses I have attended have not necessarily resulted in a lot of change for me personally or my company, but this one did."Most courses I have attended have not necessarily resulted in a lot of change for me personally or my company, but this one did. Because you designed the course to have the practical application for our own business, the key issues and possible injections become evident. I found the concept of Conflict Clouds fascinating and have been able to use this tool in both personal situations and working with our clients."

"So the first step is to really, truly understand what the problems are, and how they interact with each other. And the result will scare the hell out of you! It will also explain why all the stuff you’ve been trying for years never seems to fix the problems permanently."It will also explain why all the stuff you’ve been trying for years never seems to fix the problems permanently.
