What is this critical thinking and problem solving course about?

This course will change the way you think.

More specifically it will change the way you absorb and process information. You will look at situations from a completely different perspective. It will give you the tools to create solutions, make better decisions, and collaborate with others more effectively.

By the end of the course, you will have improved your critical thinking skills in a number of areas. This includes the ability to better understand one-off and recurring problems, to challenge your own and assumptions and beliefs (and those of others), and to develop more creative solutions. These skills will allow you to be more successful in your career, your family life, and your personal pursuits.

Why should I take this course now?
The perfect time to learn and understand critical thinking is as a child, the second-best time is now. For most of human history information has been scarce, and more information has been key to decision-making. Today, information is abundant. But much of the information we read or receive from others is skewed from their biases and personal interpretation. The better your critical thinking, the easier it is to see and avoid these biases and separate fact from opinion. Thinking skills govern everything you do, so why delay the benefit?
What happens on the live group calls?
The calls are an opportunity to benefit from group learning. The calls incorporate Q&A with your instructors and discussion amongst participants. There are also additional group activities to enhance your learning. When working through the exercises in the course we can apply them to our own situation, but will often miss opportunities to apply the skills where we don’t have immediate examples. In the group sessions and in the online community you will see examples where others in your cohort have applied the tools.
I’m not a manger, or senior level in my career — is this course right for me?
Yes. If improving your thinking skills would be beneficial for your career or your life then this course is for you. Even if you are in an entry-level position these skills will help you do you job more effectively and advance faster.
I don’t have the time to do the course now — is it important that I do the course with my team or before they do it?
No. These are skills that will make your team more capable regardless of whether others in the business have learned them. Of course, if others in the business have done the course, or the team does the course together, they will be able to collaborate with what they have learned to bring greater benefits to the business.
Is this all theoretical or can I apply it to my life now?
Throughout the course you will be applying the skills to your real-life situation. This can lead to breakthroughs in problems that have been plaguing you for a long time.

Are there any prerequisites for this course?

The lessons and exercises will give you a flying start and then it is over to you to use the skills on a day-to-day basis.
What if I can’t make the live sessions?
The mid-week live sessions are not strictly compulsory to complete the course but strongly recommended. They contain additional content and group activities to enhance your learning. Each session lasts for 1 hour. Outside of the live sessions, the coursework is flexible, allowing you to complete it at a time which suits you. The one requirement is that you reach a certain progress point before the weekly group session and complete the remainder of the module/subject before the next week begins.
I run my own business, or I’m a senior executive — is this course right for me?
Yes. If you are in this position, you no doubt already have good critical thinking skills. The course will build on these skills and teach you some new approaches. Many past participants have come from senior roles and have found the course extremely beneficial.
How much access do I get to the mentors?
Outside of the group calls, the mentors are available in the BBIT-dedicated online community. For additional course support or consulting packages please contact [email protected]
How much time can I expect to spend on coursework each week?

The course is designed to have some work completed every business day. Time required each day will vary but on average you can expect to spend approximately an hour per day. Additionally, there are live web sessions to attend which are one hour long. These include an initial kick off meeting, mid-week group meetings, and a final group activity (2 hours long).
