Meet your course instructors

Black Belt in Thinking is largely self-led. But, throughout, you’ll enjoy continual backing and support from expert instructors with a long and successful track history in teaching this course.

Jarrod Saxton

Jarrod Saxton

Jarrod is a BBIT Instructor who has a particular passion for delivering our Reality Engineering course, focused on systems thinking. He enjoys improving his understanding of decision making processes by searching for new angles of application for the BBIT tools, as well as inventing and experimenting with new thinking tools. What Jarrod values most about BBIT is its ability to remove peoples dependency on others’ opinions and influence, and enable them to think for themselves. He gets joy from seeing people make their own authentic decisions, and develop their own solutions tailored to their exact context and situation. He believes this is the key to both personal fulfillment and organizational growth.

Lauren Clark

Lauren Clark

Lauren is the Course Delivery Team Lead for BBIT. She is the one who will get you organised and make sure you have everything you need to get started on the BBIT courses and answer any questions you have!

Lauren first completed the BBIT in 2020 and has since learnt a lot about critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Lauren uses the tools daily and now finds it hard to see a conflict and not want to use the tools to solve it. Lauren thrives on hearing success stories from participants who have been through the BBIT courses and who have now taken those valuable tools and skills and been able to implement and use them at work and at home.

Lauren has attended the TOC Innovation Summit on multiple occasions where she has presented on the value and benefits of using the tools for yourself to solve problems and make decisions, as well as working with others.

Peter Cronin

Billy Soulis

Billy combines a background in philosophy with a passion for helping people apply critical thinking and analytical rigour to real-world challenges. He believes that the value of thinking tools lies in their application - improving how teams solve problems, make decisions, and execute strategy.

He works with participants to translate complex ideas into clear, actionable insights that drive meaningful outcomes. Billy has helped individuals and teams use the BBIT tools to clarify priorities, challenge assumptions, and create stronger, more reasoned solutions across a range of business and organisational contexts.

Peter Cronin

Peter Cronin

Peter is the Head Instructor of the Black Belt in Thinking.

Peter is endlessly fascinated with the way people think and learn. He has been a Black Belt in Thinking presenter for nearly a decade, having presented the program to more than 250 people, spanning 4 continents in multiple cities. He is also an expert in teaching Eli Goldratt’s Theory of Constraints Thinking Processes (System 1 and 2 thinking techniques) to people.

Bruce Cronin

Bruce Cronin

Bruce Cronin has been working with and teaching Black Belt in Thinking tools since first being introduced to them by his son Peter in 2012. Bruce finds the tools themselves hugely inspiring and motivating; and gets enormous pleasure from seeing participants making breakthroughs in their thinking (and sometime their lives, too!)

Bruce has an Accounting Degree from Victoria University of Wellington and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Massey University. He has retired from full-time employment now, but Bruce’s corporate background was mainly in telecoms, banking and philanthropy. Bruce was a JP for 18 years and received a QSM (Queen’s Service Medal) in 2016 for services to the community.

Bruce and his wife Maureen have lived in Tauranga, New Zealand for over 30 years now and thoroughly enjoy the climate and lifestyle opportunities east cost living on NZ’s North Island provides.
